Acupuncture

Purpose:
Acupuncture effectively alleviates discomfort associated with various conditions, including chemotherapy-induced nausea, headaches, and back pain.

Risks:
When administered by certified practitioners using sterile needles, acupuncture carries minimal risks, such as soreness or bruising at insertion points. Special precautions apply for individuals with pacemakers or during pregnancy.

Preparation:
No specific preparation is needed, though it’s advisable not to have an empty stomach.

Procedure:
During a session, thin needles are inserted into specific points on the body, causing minimal discomfort. The practitioner may inquire about symptoms and examine various factors to tailor treatment. Sessions typically last up to 60 minutes, with 6 to 8 treatments often recommended.

During:
Needles are inserted at strategic points, sometimes distant from the pain area. Needle manipulation and removal follow, usually without discomfort.

After:
Responses to treatment vary, with some feeling relaxed or energised, but some reflect that they feel a bit tired.
